As part of August 2021's PS Plus offerings, players can now get Hunter's Arena: Legends for free. Though this is yet another battle royale title, it takes a different approach when compared to popular examples from the genre such as Fortnite or PUBG. Players won't be shooting at each other with guns, as this game instead focuses heavily on melee combat. Anyone that's familiar with the battle royale genre will know that death is inevitable in these types of games, but there's another oddity about how the free PS Plus game handles this. Many players can't seem to quit a match once they die, instead being forced to spectate other players, sometimes even their killer.
Thankfully, Hunter's Arena: Legends does provide players with a way to quit out of matches after death, it just doesn't tell them about it. Players understandably don't want to waste their time watching other people's gameplay, so it helps to know how to swiftly leave a match and carry on to the next one.

After dying, players will enter a spectator mode where they can watch others continue in the match. None of the buttons on the controller seem to do anything, aside from the PS button bringing up the home menu. In order to quit, players have to hold the options button down for about a second, just pressing it won't work. This will bring up the game's menu, and towards the bottom of it players should find a return to lobby option.
That's all there is to quitting out of a game, but it's strange that the game doesn't mention anything about this. Many players probably tried to press the options button, but without knowing to hold it down they wouldn't get anywhere. Just be sure not to quit out too early, as it's possible to be revived by teammates in a team match.
Hunter's Arena: Legends is a very different game from most battle royales, so even genre veterans will need some time to adjust to it. During this adjustment period, players aren't likely to win many matches, and that means they are going to die a lot. While there's something to be said for learning by watching, learning by doing is often a better strategy. There's no need to sit around and wait for a match to end after dying, especially if players met their unfortunate fate very early on in a game.
Hunter's Arena: Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
