Invincible’s Guardians of the Globe Could Make For an Interesting Video Game

Thanks to both the comic book and the Amazon Prime animated series, the much-warranted popularity of Invincible is starting to pick up steam. While the comic book is fairly well known among a certain segment of fans, the Amazon Prime series has grown its name recognition quite a bit. As the franchise continues to gain in popularity the obvious question that's arisen is whether or not Invincible should get its own video game. The follow-up question to that is if it does get its own video game, would there be a better focus for the game than the Guardians of the Globe?

The answer to the first question appears to be that Invincible may actually get its own game at some point. At least if Robert Kirkman has anything to say about it. Assuming it is coming at some point, there can be a debate about whether or not the best style of game would be something like Marvel's Avengers or Spider-Man or go in a different direction altogether. But focus on the Guardians makes more than enough sense to warrant a video game.

The Invincible Game Has A Lot Of Directions It Could Go With The Guardians Of The Globe

The titular character and the heroes that populate the Invincible franchise are a darker take on the Justice League, but Robert Kirkman makes it work quite well, despite it being an obvious spoof. It's the darker aspect of Invincible that could really make its own game be worth the time and there are a couple of different directions it could move in.

The first angle any Invincible game could take would be to be a kind of prequel that focuses on the first Guardians of the Globe which includes Omni-Man as a trusted ally. Players could potentially take on the role of Aquarus (a version of Aqua Man) or Dark Wing (Batman), Red Rush (The Flash), or War Woman (Wonder Woman). While all of these characters are very obvious mirror images of the DC heroes, they are all slightly different and that alone could be just fun enough to play with. Considering the scarcity of games that actually feature the Justice League heroes, this game could end up scratching that itch quite nicely.

Omni-Man As Invincible's Big Bad

Of course, if players wanted a game that was closer to the current story of Invincible, a prequel wouldn't be the best way to go. Perhaps a story where Omni-Man has already turned against and killed the first Guardians of the Globe would be a better framing of the death and destruction at the heart of Invincible.

If the Invincible game were to go in a direction that is more adventure and less Mortal Kombat, then taking on the new Guardians of the Globe could be a ton of fun. For one thing, the younger heroes like Dupli-Kate and Rex Splode are quite a bit more original and could be more fun to take on. It also seems like Omni-Man would be a no-brainer for a villain that Invincible and his team of heroes would have to take down.
