In some cases, players have had their progress and precious loot lost due to the Diablo 2 servers going down. Unsurprisingly, official social media accounts and the game’s subreddit are being barraged by fans just wanting to play the game they paid for.

Your best chance at avoiding login issues is to check on the Diablo 2 Resurrected server status before hand. However, while Blizzard has continued to release updates and run maintenance on the game, some players are still reporting server connection outages. These include seeing errors that say an “issue occurred while communicating with the game servers”.

To check on D2R’s server status, taking a look at Battle.net can give you a quick overview. By clicking on the game on your account you should be able to see whether the servers are up or if Blizzard has currently taken them offline for maintenance.

Sometimes this information isn’t always available. That’s where Downdetector comes in handy. This online tool tracks server outages across a range of websites, services, and multiplayer video games, including Dead By Daylight, ARK: Survival Evolved, and of course, Diablo 2 Resurrected.

The Downdetector Diablo page shows the latest up-to-date information on server outages over the past 24 hours and what specific problems players have encountered.

Of course, another ideal source for the latest server information and maintenance schedule is Blizzard’s own official customer support accounts on social media. Here are links to EU support and Americas support.

In our Diablo 2 Resurrected review, we scored the remake a strong 8 out of 10. When playable, it offers an enthralling loot-heavy RPG experience that looks stunning and can rope adventure parties in for hours on end. Here’s what we had to say in our conclusion:

Diablo 2: Resurrected is a great remake of a real classic. It looks and feels just how I remember it from playing in the early 2000s, but with cooler lighting and sharper graphics. It has a few control issues with when using a controller, but it’s still a must-play for anyone who used to play it and misses it, and a strong recommendation to anyone else who likes action RPGs, dark and grim atmospheres, or who just wants to experience a treasure from the now distant past.

If you’ve already blitzed through Diablo 2 Resurrected and want to find your next dungeon crawling fix, we’ve created a list of the best games like Diablo. There are some greats picks including Path of Exile and non isometric RPGs such as Borderlands 3.

In the meantime, we recently delved into the Diablo series. Our feature explores how Blizzard created the first games in what would become a flagship PC franchise, what features were ultimately left on the cutting room floor, and how Diablo 3 managed to recover from its train wreck of a launch.
