One day after Jett: The Far Shore went gold, its launch date of October 5 was revealed at Gamescom, along with some new gameplay footage and extra details on how the space faring adventure will play. The new release from Superbrothers, the developers of Sword & Sorcery, was initially revealed during the first PS5 showcase last summer, but details on the game have been sparse since then, with it skipping E3 a few months back.
While not showing much of the game publically until now, clearly Superbrothers has been hard at work on the game, with Jett's understated marketing allowing it to make a big splash, as well as bringing with it a realistic release date which, being only a matter of weeks away, is unlikely to be delayed.

In Jett, you play as Mei, an explorer charting an oceanic planet for the first time in human history, scouting to discover what mysteries the surface holds. Using the titular jett, you will surf across waves, explore enchanted forests, and examine gorgeous coastlines in your quest for scientific exploration.
At Gamescom, we saw footage of Mei traversing through a series of landscapes with style and panache.
In the single-player game, there are five different acts, each of which will mix the chilled out emptiness of wandering the wilderness and the excitment and tension of high-octane chases throughout a picturesque planet. While the game is about loneliness and existential dread, it's also about companionship, and the connections we forge between each other.
At the centre of the game is 'the hymnwave', a strange signal that compelled humanity to search for salvation in the stars. Unlike most space games, Jett seems to be less about finding aliens, and more about finding yourself.
Jett will launch for PS4, PS5, and Epic Games Store on October 5.
