PlatinumGames’ founder and director Hideki Kamiya has stated that he hopes to reveal more information on Bayonetta 3 and unannounced projects in 2021.

During the Japanese classic gaming stream Arcade Archives, Hamster CEO Satoshi Hamada discussed Kamiya’s upcomng works. Therein, Kamiya explained that we may finally be seeing some news on Bayonetta 3 this year, along with some unannounced projects.

You can find the translation of that segment (via Nintendo Everything) below.

Hamada: I believe that you’re very busy with new projects?

Kamiya: Well, I suppose… We’ve been working on new stuff like Bayonetta 3, not that I can say too much… But I hope we can give an update during the year.

Hamada: I see.

Kamiya: – and give updates on a few more unannounced projects too. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say that, but I said it anyway.

Hamada: (laughing hysterically) Ah, so that’s how it is, huh?

Kamiya: The point is – I’m trying to do a lot of stuff this year.

Hamada: Got you! Thank you for the comment.

Kamiya: Please keep an eye on us. I’m hoping to bring some hype to this industry.

Hamada: I hope so too! I really would like to see you succeed in making AAA games. Meanwhile, we will focus more on classic games.

Kamiya: I’ll do my best, thanks.”

While the third game in the action game series was announced in late 2017 during The Game Awards, we had not heard any more information since then. No gameplay has been shown at this time either. In 2018, it was stated development was going very, very well.” We must consider that the 2020 lockdown orders may have caused hindrances in development.

In July 2020, PlatinumGames and Square Enix stated that progress on Babylon’s Fall was “continuing to progress well,” despite no news on the game that summer. The studio have also managed to venture into self-publishing, opening PlatinumGames Tokyo, and building PlatinumEngine; all thanks to investment from Tencent Holdings.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.

Bayonetta 3 is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
