Horizon: Zero Dawn launched on the PC on August 7, 2020. Horizon is considered one of the best PS4 games, but the PC version has been a bit buggy thus far. Thankfully, Guerrilla is continuing to support the title via patches and updates.

Since the launch of the game, Guerrilla has updated Horizon: Zero Dawn on the PC three times. This recent patch is rather large, but it fixes crashes, progression issues, and more.

The patch notes for update 1.03 starts off running down some known issues with the update. Right now some players are experiencing memory and optimization issues, and others may have graphical setting problems involving HDR and Anisotropic Filtering. There is also a known CPU issue as well.

The biggest fixes that fans should be happy about have to do with addressing crashes. The PC version of Horizon: Zero Dawn has a big crashing problem, so anything at Guerrilla can do to fix this is good.

There is also an odd but rather comical progression issue in which players are stuck being child Aloy, where some great moments in the game take place, instead of growing up. Thankfully, this issue is also resolved as a part of the 1.03 patch.

Among other things, the update also fixed an issue with 4K scaling, improved the frame rate, addressed localization error messages, clarified test display messages, and more. The beefy patch seems to have addressed a lot of the concerns with the game in terms of performance and crashes. Hopefully, from here on out, players on the PC will have an enjoyable Horizon: Zero Dawn experience.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is now available for the PS4 and PC.
