Latest Trailer For Amid Evil The Black Labyrinth Promises A Release ‘SOON’

0

Last year at Realms Deep 2020, New Blood Interactive announced an expansion for its Heretic-inspired retro shooter Amid Evil. Called "The Black Labyrinth," this prequel campaign is still coming and we finally have a look at how it will expand the world of Amid Evil. Not only will there be new weapons, enemies, and levels, but we'll also get a ton of placeholder music from composer Andrew Hulshult!

That last part is a joke, but the latest trailer for this expansion shows off a ton of good looking things. I'm surprised the developers at Indefatigable were able to expand the arsenal in any capacity. The main game had what felt like an absolutely rock solid selection of weapons, yet now I'm pining for those spiked gauntlets. I'm really curious how that scythe works, as well.

As you may have noticed in the trailer, Amid Evil has full support for Nvidia's RTX technology. This includes things such as ray-tracing and DLSS. I played through the main game with RTX on and it was pretty transformative. Amid Evil was always a looker, but the added depth of ray-tracing makes some of the more mystical areas really pop.

Sadly, we don't know exactly when The Black Labyrinth will be releasing. As New Blood likes to do, this trailer ends with a vague "SOON." I prefer that to promising a date and delaying it a million times, but I really want to get my hands on this. Maybe it can release alongside the previously announced Switch port that has yet to materialize. That would be nice.
