Leaker Thinks Nintendo Direct Could Happen As Soon As Next Week

Nintendo's most recent Nintendo Direct presentation (discounting the game-focused Directs) took place in June in the form of the big E3 2021 Nintendo Direct. We're now three months removed from the latest Nintendo Direct and so it makes sense that Nintendo fans are getting antsy for a new one. Luckily, if a leaker is to be believed, the next Nintendo Direct presentation could actually be taking place much earlier than expected.

Leaker Samus Hunter, who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, believes that the next Nintendo Direct event could happen as early as next week. In a recent Twitter thread, they mused that the Nintendo Direct could happen this week, but that they "personally expect" it to take place at some point next week as well, after the launch of WarioWare: Get It Together on the Switch, set to launch Friday, September 10.

As for what this Nintendo Direct could entail, that remains to be seen, though Samus Hunter has some predictions in the Twitter thread. They believe that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC character could very well be revealed at the Nintendo Direct, which makes sense as the new character is expected to be released before the year is up.

Besides Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, two other games were named by Samus Hunter as possibilities for the next Nintendo Direct presentation. Samus Hunter believes that Splatoon 3 and Project Triangle Strategy could very well be featured at the Nintendo Direct, though fans should keep their expectations in check. Samus Hunter does not provide any concrete evidence to back up their claims and so it's best to take this information with a massive grain of salt for now.

Samus Hunter also mentioned games that they don't believe will be at the Nintendo Direct, and this includes the rumored Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Mario & Luigi games. It's also unlikely that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, easily one of the most highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch games in development, will be at this Nintendo Direct, assuming that it takes place at all.

Previously, rumors of a Nintendo Direct taking place in September 2021 claimed that the event would focus on Metroid Dread, which makes sense as it's the next big Switch exclusive game coming up after WarioWare's launch. In any case, fans should wait for an official announcement from Nintendo before they get too excited about the possibility of a Nintendo Direct taking place next week or any other time in September.
