Led By League Of Legends: Wild Rift, Riot Games Officially Crosses $100 Million Revenue On Mobile

Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends, has surpassed $100 million in revenue through its mobile titles. This is an impressive feat considering the developer did not put out its first mobile title until March of last year. Yet, the popularity of mobile games like League of Legends: Wild Rift and Legends of Runeterra prove that mobile gaming may be the future.

This data comes courtesy of Sensor Tower, which shows Riot Games’ League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, and Team Fight Tactics were the big earners for the publisher. These three titles have surpassed $100 million in combined player spending. This encompasses the global spending for the three games from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

Team Fight Tactics was Riot Games’ first foray into mobile gaming back in March 2020. The title has proven a popular one as it has generated 15 million downloads and netted $27.5 million in player spending, according to Sensor Tower. Legends of Runeterra, a card battler game, was released soon after and earned around 13 million downloads and has accumulated $16.2 million in revenue since launch. However, the most popular mobile title for Riot has proven to be League of Legends: Wild Rift. This MOBA based on the popular League of Legends for PC debuted in October of last year and has already earned 46.3 million downloads and brought in $64.7 million globally. This represents about 60% of the publisher’s entire mobile revenue.

Of all these downloads, the United States accounts for most of the revenue with approximately $28 million (26%) coming from America. This is closely followed by South Korea with 22% of Riot’s mobile revenue coming from there and Brazil rounds out the top three with 6.5%. Similarly, the data from Sensor Tower shows that Google Play beats out the App Store when it comes to Riot’s revenue by bringing in 59.4% versus the App Store’s 40.6%.

While Riot Games has already made a name for itself in its short time in mobile gaming, the publisher has no plans of slowing down. Last month it was announced that a mobile port of the popular Valorant game would be making its way to devices in the future.
