Loopmancer Is Basically A 2D Devil May Cry Roguelite

Loopmancer received a new trailer during day two of Gamescom and it reveals quite a bit more about the game than we previously knew. Originally revealed a few months ago, we at least know what the game will play like. Today's trailer showed off what could best be described as 2D Devil May Cry. That's possibly a bit reductive, but Loopmancer has a very bright aesthetic.

Taking place in the fictional metropolis of Dragon City in 2047, Loopmancer will employ rogue-lite mechanics and have players looping through different bodies as they die. This factors into the story by allowing you to make different decisions during each loop. Combat is action-based and looks like it will require a ton of skill to pull off some stylish moves. It could be great fun if handled properly.

Platforms weren't mentioned during the Gamescom trailer, but Loopmancer has been confirmed for PC and consoles. On the PC side, it will feature Nvidia's RTX technology to power its lighting and reflections. That probably means we can expect a release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as both of the next-generation platforms support ray-tracing. DLSS will also be supported, allowing users to reach 4K resolution on lower-end hardware.

At present, we only know that the game will be releasing in 2022. Loopmancer does seem to still be in an early state, so it's better to leave things vague rather than promise a concrete date. It does seem rather interesting, so we'll be sure to keep you updated with any new information.
