Job listings at Mutan Insight mention a high-end PS5 remake of a roleplaying game, but its name is undisclosed.
There have been rumours of a big PlayStation 5 remake since early October. While there remains zero official information on such a project, some newly discovered job listings may further point to its existence.
The listings come from Mutan Insight and specifically mention needing staff for a ‘high-end roleplaying game for PS5,’ adding that it is a remake, although its title is not disclosed.
The only other detail to take away from the listings is that the project could be made with Unreal Engine 5. As for the job positions, Mutan is looking for a 3D motion designer, a 3D art director, a 3D background designer, and a 2D character designer.
It’s worth noting that Mutan has mostly served as a support studio, having worked on character models for Koei Tecmo’s Atelier games. So, it’s likely that it isn’t in charge of this remake and is simply assisting with development.
As for what it could actually be, a Chrono Cross remake has been heavily rumoured over the past couple of months. These rumours were only emboldened when a Chrono Cross crossover event for mobile game Another Eden was discovered.
It was suggested that the remake would be revealed this month, but it was completely absent at The Game Awards 2021 and it’s extremely unlikely that it will be announced before December ends.
It is possible that the remake Mutan is working on is related to Square Enix (which developed and published Chrono Cross back when it was just Square), as Mutan did make the Episode Ardyn DLC for Final Fantasy 15.

This also means, however, that it could be assisting with development on the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project. While there’s very little info on it, Part 2 will presumably release for PS5 and can certainly be described as ‘high-end.’
All that’s really known about it is that it will pick up right after the events of Part 1, although comments from director Tetsuya Nomura may imply that players will get to explore the overworld from the original Final Fantasy 7.
