Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, the fourth expansion pack to the critically acclaimed MMORPG Fantasy 14, will launch its benchmark tomorrow with a new peek at the male Viera character creator and new locations.
Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will mark the end of the Zodiark-Hydaelyn arc, which began with Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn in 2013, so subsequent patches will feature a new story. You can look forward to battling and exploring Old Sharlayan and what remains of Hydaelyn’s Moon, as well as many more familiar and new environments.

The purpose of the benchmark is to help players to ensure that their PC’s hardware is able to successfully run the game. However, one of the most exciting features of the benchmark is that it will have full character creation, which means players will be able to create male Viera.
Male Viera are featured in the new trailer for the benchmark. Any sequences featured in the trailer – and potentially the benchmark – do not necessarily mean that they will actually be featured in the expansion pack.
The Viera are a reclusive, leporine race. According to Final Fantasy lore, only 20 percent of Viera are born male, which would explain why most Viera featured in previous titles have been female, and why male Viera have not previously been playable characters. Male Viera serve as “Wood-warders” and are protectors of the forest. They do not live with female Viera in their village and only come back every few years to get other male Viera to train to fight and to mate with female Viera.
Final Fantasy 14’s Endwalker expansion has dominated most of the MMO’s news cycle for the year, but it’s not the only thing happening in Eorzea. Starting this weekend, you can play Final Fantasy 14 for free for up to two weeks. If you take Square up on the offer, you’ll still have time to grab the Fat Black Chocobo mount before August 24 by participating in the new Twitch collaboration. There’s also the new relic weapon quests to dive into as the game’s Save the Queen storyline comes to an end.
The official benchmark for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will be available for PC Sunday, July 11, 2021, at 12:00 am PDT and the expansion pack will be available on November 23, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
