Mario Golf: Super Rush Post-Launch Updates to add New Characters and Courses

Mario Golf Super Rush

Nintendo have confirmed there will be post-launch free updates for Mario Golf: Super Rush during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct.

Mario and friends return to classic golf action, with a few Super Mario twists. Along with standard golf games, players can take part in Speed Golf; where all players must run to sink their ball first, and using power-ups along the way to launch their balls or themselves down the course.

Battle Golf combines Speed Golf with a special arena with nine holes to be claimed. The first player to nab three flags wins. Player’s Miis are also playable in Golf Adventure; an RPG adventure to learn the basics of golf, master missions, and boss battles. As players level up, they can invest into their stats to dictate their playstyle.

Players can duke it out with up to four players locally or online, with 17 characters to choose from- including your Mii. The new trailer confirms that new characters and courses will become available via free-updates. At least one of these new courses seems to be based on New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey.

You can find the E3 2021 trailer below (via the Nintendo Direct at 17:05), and gameplay and discussion by Nintendo Treehouse.

Mario Golf Super Rush launches June 25th on Nintendo Switch. You can find the full rundown (via Nintendo) below.

Tee off with family and friends in the biggest Mario Golf game yet

Hit the green with up to four players locally* or online** and golf with familiar Mushroom Kingdom characters. Modes range from Standard Golf to the energetic Speed Golf and an RPG-like golf adventure in story mode. Intuitive motion or button controls, a shot gauge that adapts to the curve of the course, and other new features make it easy for both new players and seasoned pros to drive and putt with power.

Swing simultaneously and make a break for the ball in Speed Golf

Tee off at the same time with up to three other players* and race through the course to get your ball in first. Outpace and interrupt your opponents with dashes and special shots. Mario, for example, can blow other players’ balls away.

Rise through the ranks of golf training in story mode

Enroll your Mii™ character in golf training in a prestigious country club and go from rookie to pro! You’ll face off against your Mushroom Kingdom classmates and earn experience points. Level up to improve your character’s stats like power, movement, and spin. You can bring your character (and their customized stats) into other modes, too!
