Marvel’s Avengers Bug is Preventing Some PSN Users From Buying It

Marvel’s Avengers has had a tumultuous first year, but it looks like things are starting to improve for the superhero brawling game. With the War for Wakanda expansion on the horizon and Marvel’s Avengers’ free weekend causing a player spike, the game is primed to have some new life breathed into it. However, there’s a nasty bug preventing PlayStation owners from picking it up.

Over on Twitter, the official Marvel’s Avengers account confirmed that a bug is preventing players from buying the game on the PlayStation Store following the free access period. It isn’t clear what is causing the bug in the first place, though it likely has something to do with how PSN views the game’s ownership status, as the language in the tweet indicates that it’s directly related to the free weekend.

Thus far, the Marvel’s Avengers account hasn’t provided any updates regarding the situation, besides acknowledging that there’s an error in the first place. However, it doesn’t seem to be affecting everybody, and the developer promised an update on the bug as soon as it knows more. The situation is a bit odd because it isn’t directly related to the game itself, but instead some strange disconnect between PlayStation Network and Marvel’s Avengers.

Marvel’s Avengers has battled other bugs in the past, though those have largely been issues within the game, like server disconnects, AI problems, and the slate of other errors that tend to pop up in live service games. Updates for minor issues have neem fairly consistent, and while there have been gaps in the game’s post-launch content, that’s beginning to change.

Soon, players will be able to dive into the War for Wakanda expansion, which will add a host of new content and Black Panther as a playable character. Excitement for the new content is reaching a fever pitch, especially with news that Christopher Judge will be voicing Black Panther, following up his work as Kratos in the critically acclaimed God of War.

Not being able to purchase a game can be frustrating, though fans will just have to wait in the meantime. The issue should be resolved relatively quickly, considering how important being able to sell a game is, though it’s difficult to predict when exactly it will be fixed. The best bet is to keep tweet notifications turned on for the Marvel’s Avengers account until more information is revealed, for those that are anxiously awaiting a solution.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
