Marvel’s Avengers may finally be launching in just over a week’s time, but that doesn’t mean Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics can start relaxing. After all, the game is expected to receive multiple seasons worth of post-launch content, consisting of new missions, plot lines, and playable characters like Hawkeye and Spider-Man.

The developers have already confirmed that one more War Table livestream will be held to help inform and prepare players for Avengers‘ launch, as well as go into detail about the game’s first season of post-launch content, with another playable hero promised to be revealed.

Before that, though, Square Enix has shared a rather lengthy post on its official website to remind players what they can expect from the game on day one, as well as that any potential players need to sign up for a Square Enix account to actually play it. And anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe Edition, PlayStation Store Exclusive Digital Edition, or Earth’s Mightiest Edition will gain 72-hour early access.

Possibly the most important thing of note, though, is the rather hefty sounding day one patch, which is approximately 18 GB. Day one patches are commonplace, especially for games with major online components like Avengers, so this isn’t necessarily surprising, but it may be a tad off-putting given that the PlayStation 4 release purportedly already requires a huge amount of storage space.

Anyone who is purchasing a digital copy of the game doesn’t need to worry about it, though, as the patch is included with the initial download, while owners of the physical versions will need to download it separately. Players can’t choose to ignore the patch, either, with Square Enix stating that it is required for play due to the updates and fixes it includes, which were made following player feedback about the beta. The patch will also come with localization files for dialogue, with Square Enix confirming that it is localizing the game in 15 different languages.

The patch only requires a one-time connection to the Internet, meaning those who are uninterested in the game’s online co-op and wish to play through the game solo don’t need to worry about being connected to the Internet the entire time.

As for the War Table livestream, that’s set to air on September 1st, we can only theorise who the new DLC character will be, but we may already have some ideas. A datamine of the PC version of the beta seemed to reveal a number of future heroes that will be included down the line, such as War Machine and She-Hulk.

Marvel’s Avengers will release on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4th, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X releases to follow later in the year.
