Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man DLC and Raid coming soon

With Marvel’s Avengers having celebrated its first anniversary, developer Crystal Dynamics have discussed what’s coming next for their live service game.

Before the end of 2021, we’re due our first Avengers raid, along with new events, features, and mechanics. Those who own the game on PS4 and PS5 will also gain exclusive access to Spider-Man as a playable character.

In their second “State of the Game” update, the team shared details on the future of Marvel’s Avengers while dropping some interesting stats. They also reflect on the game’s performance since launch and the challenges they’ve had to overcome, working to improve a number of core areas.

It may not have been the open goal success publisher Square Enix were hoping for but players have clearly been busy either way. Here are some of the feats they’ve performed over the past 12 months:

  • Over 619 million Power Levels & 275 million Hero Levels have been earned
  • 23 million HARM rooms have been completed
  • 8 billion enemies have been defeated in the Avenger’s Initiative
  • Abomination is the most defeated boss, coming in at 9.4 million times
  • 23 million Drop Zone, 17 million Hero Missions, and 12 million Villain Sectors have been completed
  • 9.6 billion Fragments have been found, 4.5 billion Catalysts recovered, 569.2 million Polychoron claimed, and 1.5 billion Upgrade Modules rewarded

As we push into Autumn and through to the end of the year, we’ll gain access to the Klaw raid. This is the first raid coming to Marvel’s Avengers, designed for four players:

The Klaw Raid features custom-crafted levels, new threats that require complex and tactical combat, and stronger enemy variety themed to the Villain being faced. New enemies called Echoes – sound constructs created by Klaw – have been created and tailored exclusively for this experience. With the Power Level increase to 175 yielding more compelling drops, it is a notable example of replayable and rewarding content that fits our mantra moving forward.

What about Spider-Man? There’s no news on the webslinger just yet. If we had to guess, Crystal are working on a new mini campaign for our friendly neighbourhood hero, similar to Black Panther and War for Wakanda.
