Masayoshi Soken Discusses FF14’s Vinyl Box Set

Final Fantasy, one of the best-selling video game RPG franchises of all time, has received critical acclaim for almost four decades for its rich storylines, stunning visuals and beautifully alluring soundtrack. The soundtrack is so beloved that it was featured during the opening ceremony for this year’s Olympics. Fans can now own a piece of the realm of Eorzea with the upcoming Final Fantasy 14 vinyl LP box set.

Masayoshi Soken – sound director and composer for all Final Fantasy 14 expansions – examines exactly how the soundtrack came to be released on vinyl in a recent interview.

The seventeen minute video gives fans a chance to look at the lovely set, which contains all four FF14 vinyl collections: A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers. Soken – who is later joined in the video by renowned audio engineer Bernie Grundman – gives an in-depth discussion about not only the actual box set, but the process of making vinyl, as well.

In other Final Fantasy news, Animator Toby Saunders let us see what a Final Fantasy 10 remake would look like with an amazing trailer created in Unreal Engine. Additionally, a producer for Final Fantasy 16's revealed Square Enix has prioritized British English voice recording for its cut scenes. Lastly, at the beginning of the month, FF14’s triple threat producer, director, developer Naoki Yoshida discussed the whopping 160 percent increase for Endwalker – the much anticipated fourth expansion – compared to its last installment, Shadowbringers. With the inclusion of hunky hare heartthrobs – the male Viera – and a potential cookbook release, this number can only be expected to continue to rise until the game’s actual release date this November.
