Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy Allegedly Releasing In October, Barring Delays

Since the lukewarm reception to 2017’s Andromeda, the Mass Effect franchise has remained largely dormant. However, some fans are still holding out hope for the elusive Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy. While retailer GAME removed the latest evidence surrounding its existence, one journalist claims that that the Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy does exist, and is coming soon.

During the latest episode of the GamesBeat Decides podcast, co-host and GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that he saw proof of the trilogy remaster’s development. While some details about the upgraded games remain unclear, Grubb confirmed that Electronic Arts was planning to release the Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy in 2020.

When a listener asked when players should expect the Mass Effect trilogy remaster, Grubb claimed that EA’s original plan was to announce and release the enhanced games in October, and that as of last week, the plan hadn’t changed. On the other hand, Grubb pointed out that 2020 has caused chaos for the gaming industry, and this uncertainty might create more delays.

However, Grubb was quick to also add that he wasn’t sure if it would cause delays. He did confirm that EA was working on a Mass Effect remaster, but he also noted that EA has stayed silent about the games so far for some reason. When co-host Mike Minotti noted that the Mass Effect trilogy could come up at another EA Play since the publisher did not have any major fall releases on the docket, Grubb followed up by saying he believed the remaster was meant to be the $60 game for the 2020 holiday season. As for details surrounding the collection itself, Grubb was unsure, but he believes that the remaster would likely just give the games some “upgrades,” and not completely rebuild the games from the ground up.

It is important to note that neither EA or BioWare have commented on the existence of the Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy. In his own defense, Grubb has also mentioned on the podcast, that much of the existing insider knowledge about the Mass Effect remaster came from both him and the retail leaks. However, a potential remaster is not impossible. After all, EA re-released both Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda on Steam this year.

Ultimately, fans will have to wait for word from the Mass Effect developers to see if this speculation is all true. Until then, they may need to rely on existing fan mods to enhance their graphics and experiences. Hopefully, any potential complete collection will revitalize the series’ community and introduce a new generation of fans in time for the next Mass Effect game.

The Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster is reportedly in development.
