MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Aims to Provide Excellent Gaming and Photography Experience for Cheap

Over the past couple of years, Mediatek has emerged as one of the leading companies when it comes to smartphone SoCs. What started as the company living under the shadow of the giants has now changed as there are some excellent MediaTek offerings, including the newly released MediaTek Dimensity 7200.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 is one of the more premium mid-range chipsets made using TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process

The new MediaTek Dimensity 7200 is joining the budget-focused 7000 series and will bring several enhancements. For starters, instead of using an older fabrication process, the chip is built on 4nm fabrication process, usually enjoyed by the higher-end offerings. TSMC is the company responsible for making the new chipset.

Jumping straight to the specs, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 is impressive as it comes with an octa-core design; you are getting two Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.8GHz with six Cortex-A510 cores. Taking care fo the graphical work is a Mali-C610 MC4 GPU paired with MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 which will deliver better gaming performance. On the modem side of things, you are getting support for sub6 5G networks, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 LE.

All things point that the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 is an excellent mid-range chipset. Still, it doesn’t end there because you are getting 4K HDR video recording, camera support of up to 200-megapixel, simultaneous video recording. In addition to that, the chipset also has MediaTek Imagiq 765 with 14-bit HDR ISP for better images. For display, you are getting FHD+ display support with refresh rates of up to 144Hz. For memory, you get UFS 3.1 storage support with transfer speeds of up to 6,400Mbps.

At the time of writing, we don’t know any smartphone coming with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200, but the company has talked about how phones will start debuting in the first quarter of 2023. This means that you can see the new phones any day now.

Overall, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 makes up for a compelling smartphone chipset that is aimed at delivering solid overall performance. There aren’t many things about this chipset that would make one question it. Let’s see how it actually fairs against some of the competition from Qualcomm.
