Metal Gear Solid Remake Rumours Might be True, Says Solid Snake Voice Actor David Hayter

For a while now, it’s looked highly unlikely that the Metal Gear IP will ever see the light of day in any meaningful fashion ever again, but lately, interesting developments have challenged that notion. Rumours have been circulating that Konami is looking to license out the Metal Gear IP to developers for new games in the series (alongside other franchises), with the most recent leak claiming that multiple Metal Gear Solid remakes are in the works at Bluepoint Games.

It’s natural to be skeptical of those rumours, especially seeing as Metal Gear and Konami are involved, but it seems there might be some truth to them. David Hayter, who has voiced Solid Snake and Big Boss in all Metal Gear games excerpt Metal Gear Solid 5, was recently asked about the remake rumours in an interview with Dan Allen Gaming, and he said that according to his own insider sources, a remake is indeed happening.

“You know, I thought it was just a rumour until the day before yesterday,” Hayter said. “And then I got a text from one of the insiders saying they heard it might really be happening.”

Of course, as Hayter goes on to add later on, him hearing about a remake from an insider is still a rumour and not an official confirmation, but David Hayter believing that a remake is indeed happening does lend a lot of credence to those rumours. There’s also the question of if he will be involved in any such remake project- his wording here seems to indicate he hasn’t had any involvement so far, but then again, it might be early days for that.

Either way, we’ll keep an eye out for any new updates coming our way, so stay tuned.
