Metro Exodus: Complete Edition out now for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Metro Exodus: Complete Edition

Today marks the release of Metro Exodus: Complete Edition, a remastered version for next-gen consoles that includes ray-tracing, 4K resolution, and the ability to reach 60FPS.

Metro Exodus: Complete Edition has been released worldwide for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, an update that allows you to play the 4A Games’ game while utilizing next-gen console technology without having access to the capabilities of the PC version, a platform on which the developers have released specific improvements.

With this Metro Exodus: Complete Edition, you will experience a significant technological advancement over previous generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox One). There are many improved features in this new edition of the game, and we’ve listed a few of them below.

Resolution

The most powerful consoles – the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – offer a resolution of 2160p. Meanwhile, the resolution of the Xbox Series S version is 1080p.

Framerate and Ray-tracing

In terms of framerate, all versions look to be fairly smooth and sustain a steady framerate of 60 fps, with some slight reductions in Xbox Series S. This is achieved by global lighting utilizing ray tracing, a technology accessible on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. However, Xbox Series S does not support it.

Shadows and Textures

The Xbox Series S also features the lowest quality shadows and texturing of any version, even foregoing some quality in sections such as the greenery. The PS5 and Xbox Series X have worse quality than the PC in both aspects, notably texturing due to the usage of tessellation in computer versions.

The PC version also outperforms the PS5 and Xbox Series X in terms of drawing distance, an area where the Xbox Series S appears to be falling behind. Xbox consoles have the fastest loading times though.

Regardless, the upcoming Metro Exodus version for the next generation of consoles is extremely powerful and will give players, both new and old to the franchise, a totally different perspective than what we’ve seen in the 4A Games tale.

Price

Metro Exodus is currently available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Those who own the previous generation’s version can upgrade for free to the next generation’s version too.

Metro Exodus Complete Edition is out now on PS5 and Xbox Series X for $39.99.
