Asobo Studio and Xbox Game Studios have announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator is set for take-off on August 18 on Windows 10 and Xbox Game Pass for PC.

The game will be available in three different editions. The Standard Edition includes 20 planes with unique flight models and 30 airports. It is available on day one with Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition includes five additional planes and airports. The Premium Deluxe Edition comes with an additional five each. Those versions retail for $89.99 and $119.99, respectively.

“We have been thrilled and humbled by the support and dedication that has fueled the Flight Sim community for the past 38 years,” says Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator. “Since the launch of the very first Microsoft Flight Simulator in 1982, we knew it was finally the right time to develop the next-generation version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. We have the right tools, technology, partners, and hardware to release the most realistic and authentic flight simulator to date.”

My Take

Microsoft Flight Simulator first took flight almost 40 years ago. Now, the franchise is being reborn with stunning new graphics and a level of detail that gamers back then could hardly fathom. Let’s hope that this latest entry is a return to glory for this time-tested flight sim franchise.
