Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Next Big Makeover Delayed To September

In some unfortunate news for fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator, the next major makeover is going to be delayed, though luckily not by a terribly long time. The geographical makeover, which will be of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, was originally set to release on August 24 of this year. Now, the makeover will be coming out on September 7, only two weeks after the date originally set.

In terms of the reason for this delay, it’s about what you’d expect. Typically, the reason given for game delays sounds something like “we just want to make sure that it will be good enough,” which is exactly what was posted on the Microsoft Flight Simulator blog. In their exact words regarding World Update 6, “It’s a ton of content and we want to make sure that it will be great.”

World Update 6 includes a whole host of changes. They have fixed several crashes to improve the stability of the game, including a crash in autosave during bushtrip missions when the user has a non-ASCII name. They’ve also improved the navigation by fixing the ATC radar altitude, so the ATC doesn’t ask you to change your altitude when it's not applicable. Other updates include changes to planes, the world, VR, and SDK, which you can find full details for on the blog post.

At the end of July, we found out that Flight Simulator had improved performance from the Xbox version to the PC version, though it wasn’t all good news. Despite that the update had improved performance, this led to all sorts of crashes that many were complaining about experiencing.

Luckily, that seemed to get mostly resolved soon afterwards, though in World Update 6, they are still making further improvements to crashing issues. Hopefully, with this next major update, everyone can focus on the new and exciting content rather than more problems. Considering the success Microsoft Flgiht Simulator has had so far, World Update 6 is bound to be a hit.
