Midnight Fight Express Is A New Isometric Brawler Made By A Single Developer

A new gameplay trailer for Midnight Fight Express debuted at Opening Night Live, showing the brutal isometric martial brawler in its full glory. An important thing to remember is that a single developer is working on the project — Polish developer Jacob Dzwinel.

Midnight Fight Express captures the excitement of games like Hotline Miami with its hyper-violence, as well as referring to John Wick and other action video games and films. The title mixes old-school brawlers and fast-paced motion-captured combat, and it really shows.

Work on the project started almost four years ago. In the game, which has an isometric viewpoint, you’ll have to fight your way across distinct hand-crafted environments on foot or using a variety of vehicles. For example, the footage shows a shootout during a motorboat chase, as well as a fistfight on top of a moving train.

While it mostly features hand-to-hand combat, we also see the character using guns, swords, and even some kind of a harpoon. During the video, the protagonist also uses chairs as a weapon, drops enemies from buildings, and creates a bloody massacre in an elevator in a cheeky reference to Modern Warfare 2.

Developer Jacob Dzwinel is dedicated to bringing his title to a broad range of players through accessible difficulty. According to him, anyone can start punching enemies with easie in Midnight Fight Express, yet you'll need to master your combat skills to conquer harder challenges further on.

Published by Humble Bundle, Midnight Fight Express is currently planned for a Summer 2022 release, and you can already add the project to your wishlist on Steam. The game is also coming to Xbox One (Day One on Game Pass), PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Another anticipated martial-arts brawler got some attention during the Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live event – Sloclap’s Sifu. The developers have finally confirmed a release date of 22 February 2022 for the stylish beat ’em up with the unique mechanics of the protagonist growing older every time he dies.
