Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Update

The long-awaited Minecraft version 1.17 is now available for download on PC and consoles (Java and Bedrock).

This is the first installment of the much-anticipated Minecraft update. It is not the only patch, as Mojang has made certain that the title is kept up to date so that various updates and tweaks continue to arrive in 2021.

At a glance, you can expect new blocks, goats, axolotls, amethysts, copper, and much more. Below, we go through all of them so you can see what new features are in the title. So read on!

Powder Snow and Goats

To begin with, goats are a novelty. We may discover them in the mountains (typically snowy ones), and their walks will lead us to another of the title’s novelties: fluffy snow. We will be frozen if we step on it, and we may slip and fall. So we should avoid it as much as possible.

The game is also highly intriguing in terms of aesthetics, but the gameplay is relatively straightforward, with a large number of different levels to pick from. As with cows, we may tame and milk them by feeding them wheat. Another helpful thing we may obtain from them is the Goat Horn, which they will release from time to time.

Amethyst, copper, and other new Minecraft blocks

Copper ore can be discovered underground along mining shafts. Its applications are numerous and varied, as copper oxidizes and changes color with time, yielding a greenish tint rather than the typical brown. We shall, of course, be able to keep it going owing to the application of beeswax.

Amethyst geodes are located in caverns, and we can mine them with our pickaxe. For the time being, we don’t know much more about it, although claims of a big enlargement of the caverns and underground are still floating about.

Speleothems (stalactites and stalagmites) are rock formations found in caves. For the time being, we only know that they may be used as ornamental pieces.

Here are a few of the other new blocks:

Axolotl and Glowing Squid

The goats are joined by another intriguing creature: axolotls. If we dare, Mojang says we can find them in the water and pick them up with buckets to carry them. This is because they are antagonistic to both human villagers and other aquatic animals. For this reason, we should avoid building shared aquariums with other fish or aquatic pets, as this would result in a potentially hazardous battle.

Glow-in-the-dark squids have also made their way into the waters. They were initially limited to Minecraft Earth, but the community overwhelmingly asked that they be included in the regular game. With this update, they have finally been. Aside from their glowing looks, their biggest draw is that when they die, they produce a bag of glowing ink that we can utilize to build luminous panels, allowing us to further personalize our base and environment to our taste.

New gadgets: spyglass, lightning rod and more.

Last but not least, there are various new devices, such as the spyglass, which is evident in its utility and is made from two copper ingots and an amethyst shard. We have the option of making a lightning rod out of three copper ingots. We may use it to keep electrical storms from starting deadly fires in our homes. Aside from this pair, there are other intriguing products such as candles (which we may dye in different colors) and the aforementioned glowing signs, which may be used for both decoration and light.

All of this and more can be seen in the teaser trailer posted on YouTube, where we can see the new content of this Caves & Cliffs update in Mojang’s signature cartoon style.
