MLB The Show 21 Gets Big Roster Update After Major Trades

MLB The Show 21 has been available for over three months now and Sony's San Diego Studio remains dedicated to supporting the baseball game. It's baseball season, after all, and MLB The Show 21's most attractive quality is its focus on providing an authentic-to-reality representation of the MLB's ongoing season. As such, it's no surprise that San Diego Studio has issued a new update for MLB The Show 21 that brings the game's rosters up to date with all of the season's last-minute trades.

In a post shared on Twitter, the official MLB The Show account confirmed that the official Trade Deadline Roster Update had rolled out to MLB The Show 21 players across all platforms. The update follows a 24-hour delay that San Diego Studio announced on Friday. At the time, San Diego Studio said that there were so many trades in the final 24 hours leading up to the trade deadline that additional time was needed to make the roster update. Still, an extra day is still an impressive turnaround for the developers.

San Diego Studio wasn't kidding when it noted how busy teams had been leading up to the trade deadline. Now past, this season's trade deadline has easily been one of the most exciting in the MLB's history. Many different teams made plays to try and bolster their rosters for the playoffs, with many other teams tried to capitalize on the demand and bring in building blocks for the future in trade for their biggest stars.

For one, more MLB All-Stars were traded this year than ever before, with 10 swapping teams. That includes Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, who were both traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and both Joey Gallo and Golden Glove Anthony Rizzo going to the New York Yankees. The final day before the deadline alone was mayhem, with nearly a dozen major trades including the Braves acquiring outfielders Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosaria, and Jorge Soler in three different swaps.

The MLB The Show 21 Twitter account has been working overtime this past week keeping track of all the ongoing trades. Not only did it share each trade on the game's official account, but the MLB The Show team also added a new screenshot for each trade with the player wearing their new team's kit.

There are still three months left before the playoffs start in the MLB, so players have plenty of time to try out the new team compositions in MLB The Show and get a feel for how they'll perform. There's even an MLB The Show 21 Summer Exhibition Tournament starting today, where players can truly challenge themselves.

MLB The Show 21 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
