Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was the biggest new game to come out last week, so it’s not surprising that in Famitsu’s charts for video game software and hardware sales in Japan last week, Capcom’s turn-based RPG has topped proceedings. The game sold over 137,000 copies in the space of three days.

It has a comfortable lead over the game placed second, Konami’s baseball sim eBaseball Pro Baseball Spirits 2021: Grand Slam, which sold over 106,000 units. Meanwhile, Mario Golf: Super Rush, which topped charts last week, dropped down to third place, selling over 17,000 units. The likes of Ring Fit Adventure, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continue to figure in the top 10, to little surprise.

Meanwhile, on the hardware front, pretty much every active system saw a bit of a dip in sales, though as per usual, the Nintendo Switch was once again the highest selling console by a very comfortable margin, moving over 69,000 units throughout the week. Coming in second is the PS5, which continues to sell at a disappointingly slow rate, with over 14,000 units sold last week.

You can check out the full software and hardware charts for the week ending July 11 below.
