In the run-up to the release of Turtle Rock Studio's zombie co-op shooter Back 4 Blood, players were given a chance to beta test the game. The trial was a resounding success, with the spiritual Left 4 Dead successor recording impressive concurrent players. With the game due out this October, excitement over the game appears to be rising, possibly more so now that many have had a chance to try it out. With that, Turtle Rock has uploaded a video recently, which gives some even more impressive figures on how the beta went down.
Showing appreciation for the fans who participated, the studio has shown, via YouTube, a number of Back 4 Blood statistics, with some staggering numbers showing just how many fans played the beta test a few weeks ago. One of the stats indicated that more than 5.6 million fans were playing during this window of opportunity. The video is only short at around 35-seconds, but shows off a series of high numbers and statistics a-plenty.

Another piece of information reveals that one of Back 4 Blood's most popular characters during the beta test was Walker, showing that players had taken control of him more so than other character. In terms of weapons, it seems as though fans preferred the fire axe when it came to melee, but were a sucker for an M4 Carbine when it came to something with a bit more range.
In terms of numbers, along with the millions who played the Back 4 Blood beta, the video also states that more than six billion common Ridden enemies were killed, with the number being recorded as precisely 6,235,802,508 in total. Along with 164,183,733 special Ridden killed, these astounding figures show just how popular the game has been so far. It begs the question of just how many more Ridden are going to be killed once it gets a full commercial release.
One of the things that has been talked about since the early stages is just how similar Back 4 Blood is to the Left 4 Dead series. Given that the sequel to Valve's zombie shooter came out in 2009, fans have been clamoring for another iteration. With Back 4 Blood's dev team consisting of people who worked on the Left 4 Dead games, Turtle Rock's title is essentially a spiritual successor to the franchise. If the stats posted are anything to go by, then the full game is likely to be a huge hit the second gamers get their hands on it.
