Surreal Horror Indie RPG OMORI Launches December 25 for PC and Mac

Omori

OMOCAT have announced the release date of Kickstarted surreal horror RPG OMORI, along with a gameplay trailer.

The game was originally Kickstarted in 2014, and raised over $200,000 USD. The game was touted as “A surreal, exploration, horror RPG. Travel between new (old) worlds and uncover new (old) mysteries with your new (old) friends!”

The character of Omori began earlier as a blog comic in 2011 and 2012. A short story featuring otaku Omori; depressed and living in a white void with the odd neighbor visiting. Yet, Omori thinks he may have lived outside this space at some point. After that came an experimental picture book, and the prologue volume of a graphic novel.

Made in RPG Maker, OMORI has players travel across two worlds. Each seem welcoming at first, but have their own secrets. Eventually, the player will need to choose between the two worlds; between the old and the new. Players will also fight in turn-based RPG combat, with status conditions “based off real human emotions and conditions.

The game is directed, written, and illustrated by OMOCAT; with a soundtrack by Slime Girls and Space Boyfriend. The game features 8+ dungeons, and 60+ unique NPCs. There is also a sidequest to gather CDs (tentatively) with original tracks by Bo En, Toby Fox, Meishi Smile, Aivi & Surasshu, Flashygoodness, and Kupek.
