Final Fantasy 14: Best Samurai Katana Glamours

Samurai is a melee DPS job in Final Fantasy 14 introduced in the Stormblood expansion. You can pick up the class at level 50 from an NPC in Ul'dah. It makes sense that the class was unlocked in Stormblood, as the expansion introduced Asian-inspired cultures and locations such as Kugane.

Of course, every samurai gets to wield their very own katana. For those that play the class, there are several popular katana designs that many use as glamours. Some are easy to get while others are a major challenge. Here are some of the best.

Suzaku’s Flame-Kissed ChokutoSamurai Lalafell with on-fire sword.

This level 70 katana is beloved for a simple reason: it's on fire. It's also a way to remember the Hells' Kier (Extreme) fight.

The blade is craftable by a level 70 Blacksmith but requires some hard-to-get materials. A major piece required is a Scarlet Tailfeather, which you can only get by completing Hells' Kier (Extreme).

Not just any level 70 Blacksmith can craft this katana either, they need to get the Master Blacksmith VI recipes. The recipes can only be bought with 400 crafters scripts from various vendors.

Byakko’s Enspirited KatanaAu Ra samurai in Kugane.

The Byakko weapons are always a favorite for their ink-like effects that dance around the weapons. It looks especially lovely on a Samurai's katana.

Getting this sword is very similar to Suzaku’s Flame-Kissed Chokuto. Master Recipes for a level 70 Blacksmith are required. It also requires a Byakko Mane, which is only gotten from The Jade Stoa (Extreme).

Mighty Thunderstroke

Thunderstroke is a sword that both glows purple as well as has some lightning effects around the blade. It has been around longer than other swords, as its required materials come from a fight far before Stormblood content – The Striking Tree (Extreme).

A level 50 Blacksmith can make the sword but will need a Large Levin Orb from the Extreme trial. They will also need Master Blacksmith II recipes.

Seiryu’s Sanctified KatanaMiqo'te with glowing blue samurai sword.

Seiryu weapons are always highly desired and they are known for their beautiful blue glow. A level 70 Blacksmith with Master Blacksmith VI recipes can make the blade, however, they will need a Seiryu Scale.

The scale can be obtained in The Wreath of Snakes (Extreme). Like the Byakko and Suzaku weapons, these swords all stem from trials out of the Four Lords Stormblood questline.

Alexandrian Metal KatanaLalafell samurai.

This level 60 katana is for those that want a unique but more subtle look. Do not let its non-glowy design fool you though. The sword is hard to get. It can be purchased from Sabina in Idyllshire for eight Alexandrian Manifestos. This means you must completed Alexander – The Soul of the Creator (Savage) eight times.

The katana cannot be crafted or sold.

Augmented Aischune

There are gorgeous Samurai katanas available at level 80, but none are as sought out as the Augmented Aischune. A level 80 Blacksmith that has Master Blacksmith VII recipes can craft this beauty.

However, they will need a Hade's Auracite. These can only be gotten by The Minstrel's Ballad: Hade's's Elegy. The fight is not easy, but if you are lucky, then the loot at the end may give you an Augmented Aischune anyway and you won't need to craft.

Gordian Katana

Much like the Alexandrian Metal Katana, the Gordian Katana can be bought by Sabina in Idyllshire for eight Gordian Manifestos. That means completing Alexander – The Burden of the Father (Savage) at least eight times.

The sword itself is level 60 and was introduced in patch 3.05. What sets it aside from many other katanas is that it's dyable.

Augmented Ironworks Magitek Samurai Blade

This level 50 katana is loved for its cyberpunk design. There are various ways to obtain the blade. It can be bought by Drake in the North Shroud for 100 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics along with an Ironworks Magitek Samurai Blade. Or it can be bought from a Rowena Representative for 600 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics.

Lastly, it can be traded for five Silver Chocobo Feathers from any Calamity Salvager. Basically, this sword is one of the easiest to get.

Tsukuyomi’s Moonlit Chokuto

Tsukuyomi weapons are loved for their vibrant dark pink glow. This level 70 sword does not disappoint in catching attention.

Level 70 Blacksmiths can craft as long as they have the Master Blacksmith VI recipes. They will need a Celestial Kimono Remnant which is only obtainable in The Minstrel's Ballad: Tsukuyomi's Pain.

Shiva's Diamond KatanaSamurai under sakura tree.

This lovely level 50 katana looks as though it is made of ice. Getting one will require a True Ice Katana, which is a possible loot drop in The Akh Afah Amphiteatre (Extreme). Along with that, you will need five Diamond Dust, which is dropped from the same trial. So be prepared to fight Shiva a couple of times.

This is an easy sword to get for those who unsync themselves at level 80 since Shiva Extreme is set at level 50. Level 50 players may have a harder time.
