Myst Remake Heads To Xbox Game Pass Next Week

The previously Oculus exclusive Myst remake is heading to Xbox Game Pass on August 26, 2021. Coinciding with the game's release on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, players will be able to download the game if they are subscribed to Microsoft's excellent Netflix-like service. Interestingly, this version will not be PC exclusive as ports for Xbox One and Xbox Series X are also heading to Game Pass on the same day.

A full recreation of the 1993 adventure game classic, Myst was built from the ground up to be an immersive VR experience. Released on the Oculus store late last year, the title is finally making its way to other storefronts and it seems Microsoft nabbed itself a good deal. I'm certainly going to download and play this as I have a ton of nostalgia for the original Myst.

While the Xbox versions will obviously not support VR, the PC port is compatible with the Valve Index, the HTC Vive (and Vive Pro, etc), and the Oculus Rift (as well as Quest, Quest 2, etc). If you happen to have a VR headset, you'll be treated to reimagined puzzles that account for the extra depth given to VR headsets. There is also a puzzle randomizer so you can replay the game numerous times.

While no price is listed on Steam, GOG, or Epic, Myst goes for $29.99 on the Oculus Store. It stands to reason that this new version will cost the same. That's not a bad price to take a trip down memory lane.
