According to Jason Schrier’s latest article, a small team of developers had started working on a remake of the 2013 classic The Last of Us. They tried to build their own studio to remake it; the remake still exists, but the original studio behind it doesn’t; you can read more about what happened here.
Update 1: Jason Schrier does not know if the Uncharted game is still in development.
Apparently, Sony handed the project to Naughty Dog, and Naughty Dog is currently working on a Last of Us remake. Previously Naughty Dog was hiring for Factions 2, and possibly a Last of Us 2 PS5 upgrade or remaster is in the works. I would not be surprised if it was bundled with the Remaster. So as of now, Naughty Dog is not currently working on a new game, most likely since they are remastering The Last of Us and are working on Factions 2; hopefully, I am wrong. Honestly, I do not want a Last of Us Remake yet because the game does not feel outdated at all everything still controls very smoothly. I want them to work on a new IP and The Last of Us 2. but sadly, they are working on a New Uncharted Game along with The Last of Us Remaster with the help of a team of Bend Studios. The Team of Bend Studios helping Naughty Dog with Uncharted game were feared to get absorbed by Naughty Dog and had to ask to be taken off the project they are currently working on their own new game as of now. Another thing we learned about Sony’s first-party games in that article was that Days Gone will not receive a sequel. Even though it was profitable, it had some production issues and bad critical reception.
We will update the story with more news.
