Netflix Debuts Trailer For Monster Hunter: Legends Of The Guild, Available August 12

Netflix has unveiled a brand new trailer for a Monster Hunter CGI film that completely flew under everyone's radars. Titled Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, this new movie will focus on a character named Aiden who was featured in both Monster Hunter 4 (as Ace Cadet) and Monster Hunter World (as Excitable A-Lister). Produced by Pure Imagination Studios, responsible for Lego Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape, the film will be hitting Netflix on August 12, 2021.

A short synopsis on Netflix gives us a hint of what the story will be. "A young man named Aiden, who calls himself a hunter, protects his isolated village. One day, he learns that his village is threatened by an Elder Dragon, a monster cloaked in mystery. Needing to find a way to save his village, Aiden leaves his home and sets off on a journey into the unknown alongside Julius, a first-rate hunter and member of the Hunter's Guild, and his companions."

News of this film comes just days after Netflix announced it would be starting an expansion into a game streaming service within the next year. With the company having courted many publishers to create original content for its platform, it was an inevitability that we'd eventually see something more than just films based on games from the streaming giant.

As for what that may end up as it's anyone's guess. For now, we have more Capcom funded features to look forward to. I'm not sure if Legends of the Guild will be essential viewing, but it's sure to give Monster Hunter fans something more appealing than last year's live-action film.
