New Overwatch Map Reveal Pulled Amidst Activision Blizzard Allegations

In normal times, yesterday might have been when Blizzard revealed a brand new Overwatch map. An article from Dexerto (courtesy of Eurogamer) has since been taken down, but before it went we got our first look at Overwatch's fourth Deathmatch map.

Called "Malevento," the map would be based in Italy and feature a mix of tight corridors and open spaces filled with classic-yet-futuristic-looking Italian cars. "The stunning map is set in an Italian mountainside with lush surroundings spanning as far as the eye can see," Dexerto wrote. "In the very center of the new location is a secret Talon base that players will fight around."

Malevento is currently available in the public test region and was supposed to see an official release on August 17, but that might not be the case. Blizzard has gone mostly radio silent, with all of the company's social media accounts not speaking a word since news broke of California's lawsuit against the company.

News broke Wednesday night that California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed suit against Activision Blizzard alleging a toxic work environment where female employees are subject to sexual harassment. The suit cites many instances of disgusting behavior by male employees and accuses the developer of having a "frat boy workplace culture."

At one point, the suit describes how one female employee was driven to take her own life while on a company trip after suffering a lengthy period of abuse from a male supervisor.

Activision Blizzard denied the contents of the suit and accused the DFEH of falsifying its information. "The DFEH includes distorted, and in many cases false, descriptions of Blizzard's past," Activision wrote in a statement.

"We are confident in our ability to demonstrate our practices as an equal opportunity employer that fosters a supportive, diverse, and inclusive workplace for our people, and we are committed to continuing this effort in the years to come."
