New Patent suggests that Xbox could be working on VR Support

A New patent by Microsoft suggests that Xbox could be working on VR support for xCloud (Xbox’s Cloud Streaming Service) or Xbox Series X. There is an image in the Patent which shows the VR Headset connected to Xbox. It’s Xbox 360 and an old PC, but the Patent was updated recently.

From the Patent: “The one or more controllers associated with game console 210 may include, but are not limited to, the game controller 231, tablet 232, headset 236, virtual reality device 250, and depth camera 234. The headset 236, may capture audio input from a player and the player’s surroundings and may also act as an output device if it is coupled with a headphone or other speaker. The virtual reality device 250 may be a head-mounted device (HMD) for use with virtual reality and augmented reality applications.”

Drawing of the Patent:

If this Patent is to be taken seriously, Xbox could be working on a VR which would support PC, Xbox Series X, and xCloud, which is very impressive.

This could mean that Xbox is either working on VR Support for xCloud or Xbox Series X. It could be both too, but take this with a grain of salt since patents aren’t always accurate.

There’s a very high chance for the VR Support to be for both xCloud and Xbox Series X since Xbox Series X will power xCloud servers.

Xbox’s head Phil Spencer has also praised Iron Man VR by Sony which could mean that they are working on VR support to create VR games on Xbox too, but he has also previously ruled out VR support for Xbox last year maybe they changed their minds and started working on VR support for Xbox again.
