New Pokemon Legends: Arceus Footage Shows Retooled Battle System

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Players Can Now Pull Multiple Moves In A Row

Pokemon Legends: Arceus devs just gave their fans a second, more in-depth look at the upcoming title today. The new Pokemon Presents showcase debuted from The Pokemon Company, and fans of the popular franchise were treated to a new footage, as well as further information on what Pokemon Legends: Arceus has to offer. It would appear that the upcoming game is changing its turn-based battle style in a massive way.

Buried within this new gameplay trailer was the revelation that Pokemon Legends: Arceus will feature a retooled battle system. Players can now make use of the Agile Style wherein they can pull off multiple moves in a row. Strong Style was also shown, which allows players to utilize powerful moves as finishing blows.

This is a huge step away from the franchise’s signature gameplay. However, it is worth noting that this new title was always showcased as though it would be changing things up drastically. As observed in the footage, it would also seem that the most ambitious Pokemon title to date looks to be running a lot smoother than when it was first revealed in February.

The game was clearly focused on channeling the scope, freedom, and views featured in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Although the inspiration was there in spirit, Pokemon Legends: Arceus seems to be much rougher in action. The game’s frame rate seemed to be sub-30 and quite choppy, and fans of the franchise went through the video with a fine-toothed comb and complained about how rough its gameplay looked.

Now, however, it looks like a lot of the complaints from the Pokemon community were addressed. The gaming action looks more crisp, and the frame rate seemed to have gone up. In addition to these, clarity, detail, and lighting seemed to have been improved as well.
