New Pokemon Snap Update Lets You Surf Down a River With Gyarados and Feraligatr

Make Even More Photographic Memories With 20 New Pokemon

New Pokemon Snap is a very nostalgic title as-is, but the free update coming next week will add even more new areas to explore and new Pokemon to encounter, bringing even more of the Pokemon world to vibrant life. The update was announced with an accompanying two-minute-long trailer that spends equal time thanking players for enjoying the game and teasing new additions.

The video starts with a lengthy thank-you section, kicked off by the appearance of a happy Mew that appears to be celebrating New Pokemon Snap‘s success. This opening segment shows off a wide variety of Pokesnaps as well as several Pokemon waving happily or dancing in the camera lens.

After a long, Jurassic Park-style cinematic look at a crowd of Pokemon going about their daily lives in the Lental region, culminating in a glimpse of the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh soaring across the sky, the video explicitly thanks the players. Then it stops celebrating what’s already in the game and starts teasing everything that’s about to be added to it.

Key features include:

We’re most excited about the Mightywide River, its waters teeming with creatures like Gyarados and Feraligatr, but the Secret Side Path also looks like a magical experience. And spotting Onyx poking their heads out in the Barren Badlands is thrilling in its own right.

And that’s not even considering the 20 new Pokemon added to the game in this update. It’s clear that New Pokemon Snap still has a lot to offer players, and we can’t wait to see it.

New Pokémon Snap is now available on Nintendo Switch. The free content update will be added on August 3rd, 2021.
