New Remedy Entertainment Mini Documentary Teases Next Game

Following the announcement earlier this month that Remedy is working on a game that ties into both the Alan Wake and Control universes, it seems fans are more excited than ever to find out what the storied studio is working on next. A recent DLC for Control only heightened this desire, with the team bringing Alan Wake into the game and bridging the narratives of the two titles closer together.

A recent mini-doc published by Epic Games, however, goes a little bit further, with the team revealing a number of interesting new details during the 3-minute video. One of these is a small tease for what’s next for Remedy, with Communications Director Thomas Puha claiming it might be one of the team’s most mature games yet.

Discussing the studio’s portfolio of incredible games, the documentary quickly turns to Remedy’s next project, with Puha claiming: “Making these games takes a long time, and you want passionate people that understand the process, that are willing to put in the hours and I know there’s a lot of people over at Epic that are definitely going to be doing that for our next game.” Of course, Epic is more involved in Remedy’s work than ever, with the studio joining Epic’s new push towards self-publishing earlier this year.

This discussion then moves on to what exactly this new release is, with Puha joking that “all of our games have been melancholy, so now we’re only going to use yellow, and red, and pink. Like you’re literally walking into like a candy store.” Pausing for a brief moment, he then sighs, admitting: “Yeah, no, it’s going to be very dark and serious.” As Puha muses, the direction isn’t too much of a surprise, with Alan Wake, Control, Quantum Break, and Max Payne all having darker themes despite featuring some tongue-in-cheek humor.

Evidently, fans can expect another of Remedy’s eerie, quasi-horror games when the team’s newest title debuts much further down the line. Until then, it seems the recently released AWE expansion for Control is a good teaser for what fans can expect from the team’s next title, with the DLC officially connecting the events of the game with the story of Alan Wake. Whether this future project turns out to be a sequel to Control or maybe a story that follows Alan Wake instead, it’ll no doubt be a long wait for Remedy fans eager to learn more about this newly established shared universe.
