New Screenshots For Shin Megami Tensei 5 Revealed

We've got some new Shin Megami Tensei 5 screenshots to share with you today, courtesy of Famitsu's latest issue (via Persona Central). The Japanese publication revealed some new details concerning the game's mechanics and also a collection of new demons for you to… well, collect.

In case you're new to the series, Shin Megami Tensei is all about using demons to combat in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. Shin Megami Tensei 5 will use some of the same mechanics as Shin Megami Tensei 3 and 4, raising demons and fusing them together to create even more powerful demons.

And as always, you start out as an unsuspecting high school student who gets dragged into a fight between the forces of heaven and hell. Only this time, you're tasked with defending Tokyo by drawing demons to your side.

Recruiting demons isn't exactly a simple task, but apparently, they can be reasoned with so long as you account for their varying tones, unique personalities, preferences, and moods. Demonic moods can also change depending on the phase of the moon, so keep that in mind before you enter into negotiations.

Certain demons also have history, so depending on which demons you have recruited, you might unlock special dialog with demons you meet in the field.

Demon Fusion returns from Megami Tensei 3, although now you can combine between two to four demons. The strongest demons can be created by visiting Sophia, the Lord of the World of Shadows, and ensuring you have the right materials.

A new mechanic coming in 5 is something called "Divine Dignity." By collecting Glory in the Da'at, you can use that Glory to obtain Miracles and unlock special abilities. "Divine Dignity is a miraculous power that can modify the providence of the world, and benefits range from favoring exploration and demon battles to negotiation, fusion, skill aptitude and growth."

As for the demons themselves, we got a peek at Lady Inanna, Lady Danu, Vile Lahmu, Lady Ishtar, and the Drake Hydra, as well as several screenshots of demonic negotiations. You can see even more demons on Atlus's YouTube channel.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 arrives on the Nintendo Switch on November 12.
