Mages have revealed a new Steins;Gate project, reportedly a sequel or successor to the original visual novel.

The reveal came during a livestream (1:32:15). Noisy Pixel reports (with translation via Kiri Kiri Basara and DistantValhalla) that former Mages president Chiyomaru Shikura described the title as a sequel or successor to the original Steins;Gate.

For those unfamiliar, Steins;Gate began as a visual novel in 2009. The game was set in Akihabara 2010, a year after the events of Chaos;Head. Rintaro Okabe, a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” has discovered a phenomenon where people vanish, yet no one else notices it.

After finding Kurisu Makise lying a pool of blood, he later finds her alive and well. He learns the text he sent to Itaru Hashida when he first discovered Kurisu arrived a week before he sent it. He quickly learns that his Mobile Microwave invention has the unintended side-effect of being able to send text messages to the past. Soon, his experiments end in disaster for his friends.

Chiyomaru further explained how this new project was related to the original much how Chaos;Child was a sequel to Chaos;Head, with the same setting and plot elements of the first- while also being its own story. The voice actors for characters in the original Steins;Gate- (Rintaro, Kurisu, and Itaru) will be involved.

As can be seen in the above image, the project’s full title has not been revealed. At one point it was known as Steins;God, but that will not be the final title. While the translation constantly refer to it as a project, and the Steins;Gate series having anime, it is more than likely it will be a visual novel. This project will also be the ninth in the Steins;Gate 10th anniversary project.
