Nightdive Studios Announces The Long-Requested Powerslave Exhumed

After 14,000 eons, Nightdive Studios has finally revealed that it has been working on a remaster of the coveted PlayStation/Sega Saturn shooter Powerslave. Going under the title of Powerslave Exhumed (Exhumed was the European name for the PS1 version), this latest release of the shooter will be remade on Nightdive's fabulous KEX Engine that has powered almost all of its remasters.

You can expect the full suite of trappings that Nightdive's work boasts. There will be widescreen support, 4K resolution output, HDR, remappable controls, smoother visuals, etc. In an interesting twist, Nightdive will be combining both the PS1 and Sega Saturn releases into one game. They may appear as selectable campaigns or be mashed together into one giant campaign. Either way, this is shaping up to be the definitive version of this oft-forgotten classic.

If you couldn't tell, I'm excited as hell for this. I've never had the pleasure of playing Powerslave, but have heard tales of its majesty for a few years now. Given the spotlight on DF Retro a few years back, Powerslave was seen as the holy grail of remasters due to its mangled web of licensing rights. Nightdive Studios has worked its magic once again and we'll soon be able to relive this classic shooter on modern platforms.

At the moment, Powerslave Exhumed is only planned for a PC release. Nightdive has always been supportive of consoles, so Powerslave is bound to find a home on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch at some point in the future.
