Nintendo will be hosting a new Indie World Showcase today at 9 AM PT. However, if rumors are to be believed, a new Nintendo Direct will be taking place later this month. According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb on Twitter, there will be “More Wild Cards: Nintendo” happening in August.
The placement of this on Grubb’s Summer Games Mess seems to indicate that it will take place after Gamescom (which runs from August 27th to 30th) but before September. Grubb addressed this in a follow-up tweet, stating that the Direct won’t necessarily happen after Gamescom. The term “Wild Cards” seems to indicate that the Direct could happen sometime this month.
Of course, plans could change like with the “Xboxing Day” for Xbox Series X that was originally slated for August but seemingly ended up being pushed to September. We’ll have to wait for more details in the meantime. However, given Nintendo’s current Fall/Winter catalogue with only Pikmin 3: Deluxe coming up, it wouldn’t be strange if it provided a big update.

Right. It does not mean after Gamescom, necessarily.
