Nintendo Indie World Roundup

untitled-goose-game-update-640x360-8155372

Yesterday’s Nintendo Indie World was packed with a ton of announcements, so let’s get right to all the juicy news from the broadcast. A lot of these games are either already available or will be soon. Future release dates/windows are provided where they’re known.

Raji: An Ancient Epic

Nodding Heads Games/Super.com

An “intense action-adventure game” set in ancient India. Master divine weapons and partake in parkour as you traverse the game world. Available now as a timed console exclusive.

Untitled Goose Game Getting Free Co-Op Update

House House

What’s better than one goose? Two… gooses! Er, geese! The foul fowl will be tearing it up as a tandem in the upcoming update coming to Untitled Goose Game on September 23.

Hades

Supergiant Games

The creators of Bastion and Transistor (two games that Switch owners should consider adding to their libraries!) have a new rogue-like/god-like coming out this fall. It’s already available on Steam, but it’s nice to see Hades heading to Switch, too. That said, there’s cross-save functionality for those who are interested. Arrives this fall.

A Short Hike

Adam Robinson-Yu/Whippoorwill

Hawk Peak Provincial Park is where players will walk and soar and sail at their own leisure, exploring the game as it comes, at the player’s pace. Available now as a timed exclusive on Switch.

Takeshi and Hiroshi

Oink Games Inc.

Takeshi is a designer trying to entertain and challenge his younger brother Hiroshi by making games to tickle his intellect. Features a mix of stop motion animation and RPG mechanics, available now in the eShop.

Card Shark

Nerial/Devolver Digital

An illustrated adventure game set in eighteenth century France—the folks at Devolver always find the really unique stuff, don’t they? Players are cast in the role of a card shark, where a slip of the hand that tips off their (ahem) underhanded dealings could result in a dirt nap. Available in 2021.

Subnautica & Subnautica: Below Zero

Unknown Worlds Entertainment

Two games focused heavily on exploration. Gather resources, out think the hostile creatures running about, and try to survive. The sequel features a world of frost and ice. Coming in 2021.

Garden Story

Picogram/Rose City Games

Pixel artist Picogram and Rose City Games, the devs behind The World Next Door from last year, have teamed up for Garden Story. Players are cast as the affable Concord on a mission to restore a bustling island community. Launching in 2021.

Evergate

Stone Lantern Games/PQube Limited

A 2D puzzle-platformer set in the afterlife. Guide Ki through a game world where the player can slow down time. Available now in the eShop.

Manifold Garden

William Chyr Studio LLC

A real mind-bender with shades of artist M.C. Escher’s otherworldly geometric art that boasted impossible physics (think the Penrose stairs in the movie Inception and you’re on the right track). Manipulate gravity to solve environmental puzzles in this visually arresting game that is available now in the eShop.
