Nintendo Switch OLED Model Wired LAN Dock Available Separately via Nintendo Store

Nintendo Switch Pro OLED Model

Nintendo have confirmed the Nintendo Switch OLED model dock with wired LAN connection will be available separately.

As previously reported; the new Nintendo Switch model model features a 7-inch OLED screen, 64GB of internal storage, an adjustable stand for tabletop mode, enhanced audio for tabletop and handheld play, and a new dock featuring wired LAN support.

Possibly due to earlier rumors of the Nintendo Switch Pro (with more powerful hardware, and supporting 4K graphics), Nintendo later clarified that CPU / GPU is the same as the original.

Some had expressed their annoyance on social media that the new system was not more powerful, but one of Nintendo of America’s own staff took a surprisingly open stance. JC Rodrigo (Manager, Product Marketing) tweeted about the Nintendo Switch OLED Model, with one Twitter user replying “but does it run any better?”

“Nope. Not what’s for,” Rodrigo replied. Stick with the current one if you’re not digging the screen.” It should be noted Rodrigo’s Twitter profile does state “Views expressed are mine, not Mario’s.”

Even so, Nintendo are seemingly open to the idea that some users may prefer the wired LAN support more than a new screen. In a statement to Digital Trends, a Nintendo spokesperson stated “The white dock and black dock will be sold separately (no HDMI cable, no AC adaptor, not in a package) on the Nintendo online store. It will not be sold at retail.”

This adaptability means that users can keep their current Nintendo Switch model, but reap the benefits of the new dock’s LAN connectivity for online games.

Nintendo Switch (OLED model) launches October 8th for $349.99 USD (MSRP).
