Nintendo Switch Online passes 100 retro NES and SNES game mark

Nintendo Switch Online

Over the years, we can see how proud Nintendo is of its oldest consoles, the NES and SNES. To honor them, Nintendo has managed to include more than 100 retro games in its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Oh, good old Nintendo. From the beginning, they have known how to win the love of their fans. Despite being more reserved about their products, games, and consoles, they always know how to surprise us.

This time they surprise us with the extensive list of retro games that has grown exponentially in their paid online service, known as Nintendo Switch Online. It’s a feature that was initially panned but that has grown into something quite special.

Nintendo has been introducing games monthly since 2018. It may not be the biggest hits of the NES and its successor. And even though it may not seem like much, the sum of all the games offer hours and hours of fun. After the May update, the amount of available games has surpassed 100 retro games, reaching a total sum of 104 to date.

Five more classics to a list that keeps growing and growing!

The subscription service will add five more classic games to its diverse lineup on May 26, bringing the total number of games on the service from the 1980s and 1990s to 104. Nintendo has profited from many users who subscribe to its online service and play retro games.

The five games included this month are the 1991 prehistoric arcade game Caveman Ninja: Joe & Mac, the 1996 puzzle game Magical Drop 2, the 1991 traditional baseball game Super Baseball Simulator 1.000. There’s also Spanky’s Quest, a Game Boy and SNES action game about a monkey with a magical bubble, and Jaleco’s 1985 NES action game Ninja JaJaMaru-kun.

Nintendo has not commented on when they will stop introducing retro console games in this paid service. Perhaps in the future, we will be able to see native Nintendo 64 games on Nintendo Switch Online?
