Old School Runescape Adding New Challenges to Bosses | Game Rant

Many players of the Old School Runescape community flex their combat abilities in PvP or by fighting bosses for a potential at the corresponding drop table. Some players in the community have taken fighting bosses to a whole another level flexing their mastery of Runescape by kicking some to death, or using subpar gear. Jagex is looking to capitalize on players love for interesting ways to fight bosses by adding a rewarding concept for doing so. Many players online have only been rewarded by their internet popularity in how they have skillfully fought bosses in the past, but this will be no longer.

Old School Runescape was released in 2013, yet was a re-release of Runescape's build in 2007. This was done intentionally as many players disliked the direction the newest version of Runescape had gone, and wanted to play an older one; both for nostalgia, and for its different gameplay. With the majority of the game being a point-and-click game, many find it difficult or surprising that these players are able to perform such difficult tasks, with such limiting controls. Jagex the developer for both the PC and mobile versions of Runescape, is looking to make these difficult tasks within the game more accessible and celebratory for players of all skill level calling them "combat achievements."

Those longtime familiar with the game will have already experienced something similar to the new combat achievements; Achievement Diaries, which are mini-quests essentially throughout the world of Runescape separated by region, are a near identical format in which the combat achievements will function. After completing the easy level of combat achievements a player can then continue to take on the medium difficulty list, then hard, and so on. Alongside the difficulty of the tasks scaling for each level, rewards also appropriately scale providing things such as limited teleports to regions, and an eventual infinite teleport to said region. There will also be real monetary rewards based on who finishes each level of difficulty first and with Old School Runescape's booming player count, it will be quite the challenge.

With this addition of gameplay to the game, Jagex has very obviously been trying to grasp each and every concept players have been interested in. Many Old School Runescape community members recently began limiting themselves to specific regions of the map in order to take on incredibly difficult challenges, and with this Jagex added Runescape Leagues; a more beginner friendly, official version to the game. Similarly players have always been trying to defeat already severely difficult bosses in borderline impossible situations which is perfectly grasped by Jagex adding combat achievements to the game, for all levels of players to enjoy.

Combat achievements are available now for all players to enjoy, and many monetary rewards still await those who achieve the impossible. Many tasks are available to free-to-play players but each level of difficulty requires a minimum of 1 members only task, making membership a requirement to participate.

Both versions of Runescape are available now on PC and mobile with a free version available.
