A film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid was announced in 2020, and we’re as stoked as ever to see the live action movie when it comes out. The film has reportedly been in the works for many years now, but it seems like it’s finally becoming more of a reality. Oscar Isaac, most known for his work in Star Wars and the upcoming Dune, will be playing the protagonist from Metal Gear Solid, Solid Snake.

Recently, in an interview with Total Film, Isaac explains that what attracted him to playing the part of Solid Snake in the first place is his deep love for the game, for numerous reasons:
I just loved the game. love the feeling that the game would give me every time I’d play. It’s just a strangely isolated, mournful, lonely game to play that has these incredible moments of violence and terror, with these weird, psychedelic concepts and villains. But, yes, it’s kind of like psychedelic military horror things that happen. And the truth is, underneath the whole thing, it’s an anti-war story. So I think those are the elements I really love. And, like I said, I love the feel of playing it, and the big question of: can something like that be transferred – or can you explore those themes in a really interesting way – on film?
Sadly, we do not have a ton of details on the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie, though we do know that the script is written by Derek Connolly, the same person who wrote The Rise of Skywalker and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu. Additionally, the director Jordan Vogt-Roberts told us that he will fight to ensure that the movie stays "true to [Hideo] Kojima-san's spirit.”
Like with almost everything else, the filming for this movie was delayed due to the pandemic, so we do not have a date yet for its release, but hopefully we will at least get a closer look at it soon.
