Free Epic Games Store Games Include Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead And Ironcast

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead and Ironcast are the next free games up for grabs on the Epic Games Store and will be up on the store from July 8 to July 15.

The Bridge Constructor series started back in 2011, and tasks the player with planning out a bridge in order to successfully cross a gap from one side to another. Think of them as physics-based puzzle games that focus on you building bridges.

Since the release of the first game, several crossovers and variations have been made including Playground, Medieval, Stunts, and even a special re-skinned version based on the Portal franchise. The most recent release, based on The Walking Dead, is up for grabs as of next week.

The big difference with The Walking Dead version of Bridge Constructor is that zombies are scattered throughout each map that need to be considered alongside the bridge-building. Beyond accounting for zombies, there's also combat that features iconic characters, which adds another layer to the standard gameplay mechanics.

Ironcast is the second free game available next week and it's another puzzle title. Its core gameplay features a familiar-looking match-three system, although it's all wrapped up in a Victorian theme.

While the gameplay seems to be a pretty straightforward puzzler, Ironcast has a good deal of replayability thanks to its procedurally generated boards and a permanent death system. The official Steam page describes it as "Puzzlequest meets FTL in this Steampunk Victorian era roguelite".

Although you'll have to wait a week for those titles to become free, The Spectrum Retreat is also currently available on the store for free. It's another puzzle game, and has you exploring a hotel and figuring out several colour-coded puzzles. The Spectrum Retreat is currently available to download for free now.

Epic Games has made at least one game free from its store page every week since 2019 and has had a big range of titles including Grand Theft Auto 5, Sonic Mania, and Alan Wake Remastered. We recently examined how these promotions paid different developers.
