Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, as well as the Xbox showcase before it, clearly went big this year. Everything from Halo Infinite’s release date and Horizon Forbidden West’s delay into 2022 to the new Saints Row game and a new look at Far Cry 6 showcased at the event, and far more. Another game that came ready for the show was Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.
The latest iteration of a classic franchise, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania features 300 stages from past games, 12 mini-games, a comic book-like story mode, and a customizable character and ball. Thus far, a couple of crossovers have been confirmed for the game such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Yakuza, with the newest being announced as part of Gamescom ONL.

Coming to Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania on November 2, or just short of a month after it launches in early October, is Persona 5’s Morgana. As many know, Morgana is a playable cat-like character in Persona 5 with ties to the Mementos and seeking to restore his memories. Due to his size, it’s clear that he’s the perfect Persona rep for Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, and it’ll be interesting to see him in the game.
As a DLC character, Persona 5’s Morgana will cost players 5 bucks across all platforms. Morgana’s announcement also comes alongside a new Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania trailer, which focuses on all of the aforementioned mini-games. For fans of the franchise, it clearly had a strong showing at the show, and what’s more, it’s not done yet. More crossover content is expected to be announced in the coming weeks before Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania releases on October 5.
Thus far, all of the crossover characters in the game have come from Sega franchises. This may limit how many players could expect, but many would likely welcome representatives from non-Sega franchises, like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, if that was a possible direction. Either way, what fans don’t know here may be more enticing.
For example, fans don’t know yet how many crossover characters the game will feature. With more crossover characters expected to be announced for Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, there’s a ton of potential. It still doesn’t end there, as while any new announcements may be DLC like Persona 5’s Morgana too, there could still be some surprises in store for their launch, or after. That sounds like it can only be good news.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania releases October 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
