Peter Griffin has been rumoured to be coming to Fortnite for months, but it turns out that references to him in the game's data are just trolls from Epic to dataminers.
For those unaware, a gif referencing Family Guy was found in the data for Fortnite earlier this year. The gif showed Peter fighting the chicken, and the scene was edited to remove any blood, making Fortnite players assume that Peter Griffin was being added to the game in some capacity. As it turns out, that gif was put in the game to troll dataminers.

This revelation comes from reliable Fortnite leaker and insider FNBRUnreleased. On Twitter, they talked about the Peter Griffin gif, confirming that it was done to troll players looking through data. They said, "Fun Fact: Family Guy being inside the game files was a joke by Epic to troll leakers. Was told a year ago by someone at Epic that they would start trolling dataminers. This is what he was talking about."
Ever since the gif of Peter Griffin was found within Fortnite, gamers have jokingly banded together to request that the Griffin family get into the game for real. Most Fortnite posts are now met with gamers asking when Peter Griffin is coming to the island, and it's become an in-joke among the community, even though some players likely now actually want the character.
What's interesting about this reveal is that Epic has continued to play into the joke. The gif was originally found early in the year, but Epic has made reference to Family Guy coming to Fortnite as recently as last month. One Fortnite leaker was sent a list of characters and series by Epic to gauge interest for potential crossovers, and one of the shows featured on the list was Family Guy.
Although it could just be Epic playing along with the joke and teasing fans further, it could indicate that the fan demand has convinced Epic to get Family Guy in Fortnite for real. As of now though, the one bit of evidence that fans had is actually just a big joke.
